My first e-reader - Kobo Clara Color

During the weekend, I received my very first e-reader device as a birthday gift (my birthday is actually on the 29th, but we
usually have family celebrations for me and my sister the weekend before). The device that I had asked for was the Kobo Clara Color. I've had a few days to mess around with it now, so
I'd like to write a post with my thoughts on it.
First, adding some of the .epubs that I already had on my computer was very easy. I just had to hook up the Kobo to my computer and Calibre was able to send the ebooks to the device. Easy, simple offline method of transferring ebooks. I already like that a lot.
The device itself is pretty small, but that just makes it more portable for me to read around campus. I got one of the sleepcovers from Kobo to protect the device so it doesn't get scratched up in my bag. Font sizes can be changed if the size really bothers me that much, anyways.
One problem I already had with the device on my first night with it is that when I plugged it in overnight to charge (it was at about 26% when I first powered it on), it stopped at 94% when I woke up in the morning. I got it to 100% by unplugging it and then plugging it back in. Apparently this is a common enough issue with the Kobo Clara (no idea if it's a Kobo issue as a whole, or just with the Clara). Not the best first impression of the battery for me. It DID get to 100%, though. Maybe it was just a weird thing it did.
Aside from the battery part of my unboxing experience, I really like the Clara. I wanted to avoid Kindles since they lock you into Amazon's store by default. While Kobo does have a store they'd like you to buy from, and they do promote it a lot on the device, it's nice that they give the option of sideloading your own ebooks onto it. I don't know if I'd give a solid recommendation yet since I haven't used it for that long. But, I do like it. I'm happy with the Clara so far.
